BioWare SysInfo Tool Disclaimer

SysInfo is a handy application developed at BioWare Corp. for use with our games. The SysInfo tool serves two purposes. Firstly, it checks a computer system to see that all the requirements are met to be able to install and play Baldur’s Gate II: Throne of Bhaal. Secondly, it is able to save the information on system specs as well as details on BGII configuration into a text file (Info_TOB.txt). This text file can then be used for customer support purposes to facilitate bug reporting. No other information from your computer is saved to this file, so your privacy is protected. We have found SysInfo to be a useful and reliable tool, but it should be noted that we are unable to offer customer support for SysInfo should you experience difficulties. But if you have any feedback you would like to send us, we’d love to hear it.

SysInfo Tool Instructions

To use the SysInfo tool after downloading it, double-click on it and select where you wish to install it to (this can be anywhere you like). This will extract 2 files: SysInfo.exe and BWSYSINFO.INI. Both files are needed to run the tool. To run the SysInfo tool, simply double click on SysInfo.exe and you will see the program run through a series of test to check your computer as well as your Baldur’s Gate II configuration. In order to save this output into a text file that can be used for customer support, simply click on "Save Info" button at the bottom of the window (also under the File menu) and save the file as "Info_TOB.txt". This text file can now be attached to an email along with an explanation of the difficulties you are experiencing with the game.

Alternate Way of Reporting a Hardware/Software Bug for Shadows of Amn or Throne of Bhaal

If you do not wish to use to use the BioWare SysInfo tool, then the following information is required to be filled out in order for us to help you (in addition to an explanation of the difficulties you are experiencing with the game). Missing any of this information will most likely impede our ability to resolve your problem.

1. What CPU and at what speed do you have?
2. How much RAM do you have?
3. What operating system do you have?
4. What video card do you have, including make and model and the chipset?
5. What version video drivers do you have? Don't just say latest, as that is a relative term.
6. Are you running in 2D or 3D mode?
7. What sound card do you have?
8. What version of sound drivers do you have?
9. Are you running the game with EAX on or off?
10. What is the make and model of your CD/DVD drive(s) and what are their drive letters?
11. Do you have the BG2 Collector's Edition or the Regular edition?
12. If there is an error message, what exactly is it?
13. If it is a crash of some type, state whether its an error message or a Blue Screen of Death, or a system lockup.
14. If your system is a retail system, please state the make and model of it (eg. HP Pavillion 7384)
15. What is your motherboard chipset?
