Associate Art Project Manager

BioWare is seeking candidates for the position of Associate Art Project Manager. The Associate Art Project Manager assists in leading multi-disciplinary teams through the game development lifecycle according to our production processes. This position aids the project side of game development and works with other Project Management staff to meet the planned schedule, defined feature set, and resource constraints to deliver a high-quality game to market. This position will deal with daily logistics and liaison work between internal art and localization staff and external vendors to ensure seamless communication and production.

BioWare uses Agile/Scrum development practices to develop our games. Any past experience leading scrum teams or managing the process would be a valuable skill for the role. Experience with or knowledge of game graphics pipeline is definitely an advantage. You must be able to relate to and communicate with "gamers" on their level and gain their confidence.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in planning and management of the production of the game.
  • Manages communication of goals and objectives, status and progress of project to management and to the team.
  • Works with the Project Manager of the Art Department and the Principal Project Manger to communicate project goals, objectives, plans and milestones to the project team.
  • Ensures timely and accurate asset flow - manages, coordinates the delivery of assets, tools and features, and localization.
  • Works with functional managers to continuously manage trade-offs between scope, resources and time during the project lifecycle to deliver on to the high quality standard expected of a BioWare game.
  • Risk Management - Identify, analyze, prioritize, mitigate and communicate project risks.
  • Responsible for the creation and/or maintenance of project management documents including status reports, project plans, communications plans, post-mortems and compiling historical information.
  • Works with the Senior Project manager for the Art Department, Principal Project Manager and team leads in assessing the progress and quality of the project and the ongoing assessment and design of the bug tracking / task / asset management system.

Qualifications

  • University degree or graduate of a recognized post secondary program in project management or related discipline is preferred
  • PMP or PMI designation is a definite asset
  • Project Management or Associate Producer experience, capable of facilitating a 3 year project with a full production team
  • 2 years of experience with scheduling resources and managing projects of significant complexity
  • Experience in the Information Technology or entertainment industry is required
  • Able to identify and solve problems creatively without guidance
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making ability
  • Ability to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities and groups of people who need to cooperate to achieve maximum efficiency
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment is required
  • Superior time management and organizational skills are essential
  • Excellent attention to detail is essential
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and a broad knowledge / familiarity with scheduling software
  • Analytical and mathematical skills are required
  • Knowledge of Graphics pipelines for computer games is preferred
  • Experience with outsourcing/external production/contracting a definite advantage
