Quality Assurance Client Lead

BioWare is searching for a Quality Assurance Client Lead for our Austin, Texas studio. The QA Client Lead is responsible for the application of systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with user to determine hardware, software or system functional specifications, measuring project quality and progress of the game system functionality and usability. The QA Client Lead will manage and support software applications or components currently in production and/or in development. This role reports directly to the QA Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drives acceptance criteria, verification points, creation of test cases and quality assurance efforts while playing a key role as a liaison across development, technical and project management groups.
  • Manages and oversees the comprehensive milestone plan cycle and environments from beginning to end to ensure feature and system requirements are met.
  • Performs detailed analysis of testing acceptance requirements to uncover product defects.
  • Utilizes automated testing process and measures performance efforts for multi-user platforms though automated test scenarios and provides improvement recommendations based on patterns and deviation from specified requirements.
  • Assess risk to quality services based upon results of verification and validation activities for all production modifications.
  • Reviews and approves all assigned technical deliverables against technical documentation and tool specifications prior to delivery. (first playable, alpha, beta, client/server applications)
  • Oversees functional, performance, regression and automated testing activities.
  • Performs resource forecasting and activity scheduling for internal and second source teams.
  • Pre-screens defect reports to determine deviation from requirement specifications.
  • Advises on the evolution of QA technical strategies within service.
  • Responsible for tracking, organizing, monitoring, communicating and reporting functional and technical issues for the project and throughout the entire lifecycle.
  • Collaborates with Outsourcing Lead to ensure deliverables are defined, delivered and approved.
  • Participates in qualifying external outsourcing teams for future SKU development, outsourcing and partnership opportunities while ensuring contractual compliance.
  • Serves as a Quality Assurance advocate for internal and external customers.

Skills/ Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field or equivalent related experience preferred
  • 5 years of proven software QA experience
  • 2 years in Quality Assurance leadership role, remote experience preferred
  • Massively multiplayer game and/or large scale application client/server application QA experience preferred
  • Proven experience creating and executing test plans/scripts for all assigned projects, utilizing most appropriate testing methodologies (regression, editorial, usability, security, web browsers, compatibility, performance, etc.)
  • Proven experience in structured acceptance test methodology and in developing and executing test plans and test scripts to verify application functionality, performance, and compliance with business requirements
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding technical design specification documents
  • Strong understanding of Software Quality Assurance practices (Agile, CMM, ISO9000)
  • Solid understanding of the software development process
  • Strong programming knowledge (OOP, C), problem identification and solving ability
  • Detailed, complex time and task management skills
  • Exemplary oral communication and interpersonal skills (cross-functional team environments)
  • Focus on continuous improvement
  • Ability to travel, to include international travel, 5-10%
