BioWare Corp. is seeking candidates for the position of Project Manager. The Project Manager leads multi-disciplinary teams through the game development lifecycle according to our production processes on specific game titles. This position manages the project side of game development, meeting the planned schedule, defined feature set and resource constraints to deliver a high-quality game to market. This position works closely with the Project Director, implementing the vision, scope, creative direction, feature set and quality levels defined by the PD.

BioWare uses Agile/Scrum development practices to develop our games. Any past experience leading scrum teams or managing the process would be a valuable skill for the role.

Although game industry experience is not essential, your knowledge and passion for the video game market is clear and evident. You must be able to relate to and communicate with "gamers" on their level and gain their confidence.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and manages the production of the game, allocating resources and developing an effective and efficient schedule, budget and milestone plan to deliver the game.
  • Manage communication of goals and objectives, status and progress of project to management and to the team.
  • Works with the Project Director to establish and communicate project goals, objectives, plans and milestones to the project team.
  • Ensures timely and accurate asset flow - manages, coordinates and controls the delivery of assets, tools and features, localization and marketing/PR materials.
  • Works with functional managers to continuously manage trade-offs between scope, resources and time during the project lifecycle to deliver on to the high quality standard expected of a BioWare game. Coordinates staffing resource needs for the team.
  • Documents, communicates and administers key project management processes within the project team and across the company. Coach others on project management processes and best practices.
  • Leads and coaches others in Project Management practices. Ideally, you are experienced with Agile Project Management and are able to coach and teach other team members on effective Agile methods.
  • Risk Management - Identify, analyze, prioritize, mitigate and communicate project risks.
  • Responsible for the creation of project management documents including status reports, project plans, communications plans, post-mortems and compiling historical information.
  • Works with the Project Director and team leads in assessing the progress and quality of the project and the ongoing assessment and design of the bug tracking / task management system.
  • Stays current and is conversant with PM industry standards - educates & shares with other Production team members. Analyze applicability of new standards and implement when it makes sense.

Skills/Abilities/Knowledge

  • Able to identify and solve problems creatively without guidance.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making ability.
  • Ability to work under pressure and coordinate numerous activities and groups of people who need to cooperate to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment is required.
  • Superior time management and organizational skills are essential.
  • Excellent attention to detail is essential.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and a broad knowledge / familiarity with scheduling software.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills are required.

Experience and Education

  • University degree or graduate of a recognized post secondary program in project management or related discipline is preferred.
  • PMP or PMI designation is a definite asset.
  • Senior Project Manager for an entire project, capable of planning a 3 year project with a full production team.
  • 5 years of experience with scheduling resources and managing projects of significant complexity.
  • Experience in the Information Technology or entertainment industry is required.
