Spotlight on the Krogan

Spotlight on the Krogan

The Krogan: Brutal Evolution

We have three in-depth articles on the brutal and tragic race known as the krogan. Chiseled from a harsh environment, only the toughest of their kind survived to take to the stars and nearly conquer the galaxy. They paid dearly for their warlike ways, though, and now teeter on the brink of extinction at the lifeless hands of a terrifying bio-weapon called the genophage.

Mass Effect Screenshots

A prolonged and dangerous foray into the wilds of the Internet have yielded the best screenshots of Mass Effect to have surfaced yet. Some come from magazines, some from other websites, and some come direct from an alien brain in a jar we keep right here at BioWare called "Lil Squishee."

Don't miss the novel Mass Effect: Revelation, set in BioWare's new sci-fi universe and authored by New York Times bestselling author and Mass Effect Lead Writer Drew Karpyshyn.

Read two chapters from the novel.

Check out this exclusive interview with Drew (who resists referring to himself in the third person) where he answers questions from fans.

Mass Effect Writer Shares Insight Into Classes and Combat

Mass Effect Writer Shares Insight Into Classes and Combat

Patrick Weekes, a Writer for Mass Effect, jumped into the Mass Effect forums recently with this insight on the Sentinel character class:

"I went into the game thinking of a Sentinel as being like a D&D wizard or sorcerer -- cool booms all over the place, but no good in a stand-up fight. As it turns out, they're a lot cooler than that -- since combat is based on player skill as well as stats, a good player can do pretty well in an average fight just by knowing when to grab cover and when to strafe. What's cool is that the Sentinel is so incredibly flexible. Whether I'm fighting a mob, a big boss, or creatures with special attacks and powers, I've got something that I can use to mess with the enemy (or help myself and my buddies)."

David Gaider, Lead Writer for Dragon Age, had this to say recently in the Dragon Age forums:

"Dragons are cunning to the point of having deductive reasoning, arguably even sentience, without having the ability to communicate or possess a civilization. They are like dolphins -- that will eat you."
