Road to E3 - Part 1

By Tom Ohle March 26, 2002

The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) brings the entire video-game industry together for a three-day conference in balmy Los Angeles, California. Developers and publishers showcase their upcoming titles to potential buyers and members of the press, in hopes of raising awareness of their products and to eventually increase sales.

BioWare has been exhibiting in our publishers' booths since 1996, and moved into its own booth in 2000. That year, we exhibited from a 10’x10’ room in the relatively hidden Kentia Hall that carried the cute nickname of "Sweat Lodge." Traditionally, most members of the team have made their way down to the event—if not to work, then just to check out what’s going on in the rest of the industry. A jolly good time is had by all. This year’s presence promises to be quite a bit larger than it has been in the past.

BioWare’s Road To E3 begins months in advance, as we plan our involvement in the event. This year looks to be bigger, and thus busier, than ever before. To give readers a bit of insight into what sort of preparation is required for such a huge event, we will be providing ongoing coverage of our Road To E3 right here, starting today. In this first update, we’ve got a few pictures of our System Administrators building the computers we’ll be taking down to E3 for our presentations. They locked themselves into a room and watched movies as they put together a grand total of 25 systems.
