BioWare at E3: The Final Word By Tom Ohle May 16, 2003 The show has ended, and we're just waiting for the fine folks managing the tear-down operations to bring our crates to our booth. Everyone (myself excluded) is frantically taking down all of our posters, unplugging our computers, and packing up supplies. It's been a tough three days, but well worth it in the end. We're awaiting official word on any awards we've been nominated for-we know there are at least a few. Response from show-goers has been extremely positive. Both Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide were received really well, so we're quite confident that those games will make all you fans quite happy when they ship to stores. We were showing off Knights of the Old Republic at a number of locations, including LucasArts, Microsoft Xbox, NVIDIA, and our own booth. Everyone seemed really impressed with the title, both on PC and on Xbox. The consensus on Shadows of Undrentide seems to be that it successfully expands on the original game, and eliminates many of the issues fans had with the original. The new creatures and tilesets really pleased the visitors, as did the new role-playing options for evil characters, druids, rangers, and other wilderness types. Our flight leaves bright and early tomorrow morning, so as we prepare for our return to Edmonton, we can reflect on an extremely successful show, and we can begin to start planning next year's appearance. It will almost assuredly be just as busy, just as much fun, and just as successful.
