Jade Empire Was A Huge Success! By Johnn Six May 12, 2004E3 is over and the BioWare team is back, safe and sound. All reports, online and off, reveal that Jade Empire had a very impressive showing at the expo, thanks to the great planning, good preparation, and hard work of all the BioWarians involved. The show was three days long, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day, and hundreds of demonstrations were given at the BioWare booth, Microsoft Game Studios booth, and BioWare hosted fan event. With what was most likely the largest contingent at the show--50 staff--you'd expect chaos to reign. However, many press members and public attendees commented on how professional, pleasant, knowledgeable, and cool the demonstrators were under the pressure of the booming and flashing show floor zoo. As far as comments about Jade Empire went, the game community was extremely excited by what they saw in the demo. The lush graphics, real-time combat action, and cool mythical China setting had attendees raving about the game play. Check out this year's reviews and previews: Jade Empire PreviewsJade Empire AwardsJade Empire Quotes"Jade Empire paints a breathtaking picture of its mythical world. The environments are extremely varied, but each one features vivid, lush landscapes. Jade Empire has a hell of a lot going for it."
"Jade Empire is all real-time fighting where the speed of your thumb can mean the difference between life and death. It's surprisingly intuitive and controls fantastically."
"BioWare's action RPG looks to be coming along nicely and has plenty of time left to shape up between now and the game's first-quarter 2005 release. On the one hand, we wish we could play Jade Empire as soon as possible. On the other, we think this concept is looking so good that we hope BioWare will take all the time it needs to make Jade Empire at least as good as KOTOR before it. The game's action-oriented combat, impressive good looks, and original setting might well make for a truly remarkable experience."
"Developed with a revolutionary second-generation Xbox engine, the game will offer fans a stunning visual and game play experience."

By Friday evening, everyone was running low on steam but satisfied with a job well-done. All the free posters had been handed out, the free beer metabolized, and the demonstrations demo'd. It was time to pack up and head home. Thanks to everyone who came by the booths for a visit! Below are a few pictures of the show and booth break-down.
