BioWare Online Store Q&A With Ray & Greg

We caught up recently with BioWare joint-CEOs, Ray and Greg, to find out what exciting things are in the works for the BioWare Online Store. In this brief interview, plans are revealed for the sale of physical products and more story-based games!

The BioWare Online Store has met with great success with the sale of premium Neverwinter Nights modules. Are there plans to offer any other products?

Ray: In the near future, we will be offering high quality physical products such as t-shirts and posters in addition to the digital content we currently offer. These will include products with the BioWare logo as well as products for our upcoming games like Jade Empire and Dragon Age. Currently, we are investigating what physical products are most desired by our community – the fans of BioWare’s games - so we can offer the best merchandise. Of course, development continues on more premium Neverwinter Nights modules for fans to enjoy. We are also very excited to be working with other developers of story-based games to arrange for the sale of their games on our site in the future. More information on that front is coming soon!

Does the fact that BioWare owns the IP for Jade Empire, Dragon Age, as well as the unannounced title, affect how the store will evolve in the future?

Greg: The worlds of Jade Empire, Dragon Age, and the third, as-yet unannounced title are huge and rich in detail that cannot be fully explored within a single game. The store will become a source of any extra material that is developed on each of the lush worlds through ancillary products such as art books, pen and paper games, and even novels. We hope to turn the BioWare Online Store at store.bioware.com into the central place to find high quality merchandise for fans of story-driven games.

Is there any special Jade Empire merchandise in the works?

Ray: We will definitely offer Jade Empire posters, t-shirts, and other merchandise, but this is only the beginning. We are currently gathering information on what products fans would most like to see at the BioWare Online Store. Jade Empire is a lush and beautiful world and there are a lot of exciting ways we can develop the franchise which we’re currently exploring.

Will the BioWare Online Store offer non-BioWare products?

Greg: Yes, we are working on partnerships with other developers who specialize in quality, story-driven games, and who have an interest in distributing their product digitally. Watch for announcements on this in the future.
